There is NOTHING more rewarding than an impromptu message of thanks a few years down the line. Nicole had a portion of their ceremony reprinted and framed and sent me a photo to show me it hanging in their house, it was from a section of the ceremony that oozed the brilliance of the pair of them and I could only have written it with the help of the excellent homework they completed for me! Mikey was very resistant at first, and rightly so, we leave homework behind after school right? Who am I to suddenly request that they sit down and reflect and discuss and delve into their minds for stories and observations of their lives together? It’s exposing. And can generate vulnerability and self consciousness. BUT that is why I work so hard with my couples to help them feel at ease with me. To know there is zero judgement and that maybe, just maybe, something surprising and positive can from the word ‘homework’!! Mikey gave me gold! I’m not kidding. It’s the most rewarding part of my job and one I constantly am humbled by. So thank you @nicoleb1988 for letting me know that as the years go by, it’s not just what we get to create in the ceremony that counts, it’s the continued impact creating such an honest and personal foundation has in your married lives.
