Goodness gracious me! Saturday was SO much fun. Hannah and Ben tied the knot and we all went wild! One of my favourite things about handfasting (apart from the sheer glee as the bride and groom pull and the knot is formed before our very eyes) is that unusually this symbolic gesture isn’t born out of any religion but rather from the more humble tradition of choosing to bind one another to each other, not to inherit property nor to belong to another person, but to express one’s CHOICE to spend their life with each other.
This is where the term “tying the knot” originates. It represents an agreement freely made between two people. An agreement that recognises your physical union and something I am most fond of – it traditionally honoured equality and joint endeavour. Is there a better gesture?!? This moment was captured perfectly by the brilliant @scooperphotog and I will always come to this photo to look at all three of our faces for instant cheer! Congratulations @hannacious7 and Ben. You two are bloody marvellous.
