Gemma and Timur, deservedly, had the most amazing weather for their wedding at The Matara Centre – a really unique place, dedicated to making a truly special and harmonious environment (and it is beautiful all the way through to its nooks and crannies where often the most interesting curiosities and thoughts are hidden). They planted a tree together in the morning, which will be something @gem.k84 Gemma and @tatlioglu2014 Timur can go and visit on their anniversaries if they want to which I think is such a wonderful thing for a venue to offer. It’s so lovely!
Our ceremony took place around a serene (and sun bathed) pond on our own little platform. Timur’s dad read beautiful prose in Turkish first and then in English and some of Gemma’s family who couldn’t make it over from Australia chose a surprise reading for them to be read out by their friend – an extract from Peanuts – warm, funny, brilliant! I also got to work with the extremely talented (and bloody lovely) Boy Called Ben.
Wedding photographers are an awesome bunch! Three more cheers for changing the tradition of women’s voices on a wedding day, Gemma’s mum did a mother of the bride speech with a gracious nod of happiness from Gemma’s dad and Gemma and Timur did a bride and groom’s speech together. Hip hip hooray. Another truly wonderful process culminating in a day of joy, love and new friends made. I’m so lucky to have the couples who find me enrich my life, my gratitude to you is huge.
